A large, secluded front garden of a detached family home in North Foreland.
The owners purchased the property with an entirely block-paved driveway devoid of any greenery and reminiscent of a car park.
The client brief was to soften the area, provide a better view from the house and screening from visitors to the front door. Space for three cars to park and turn was important as the house was situated at the end of a private lane.
Now, evergreen planting including Yew, Privet, Yucca and Photinia hides boundaries and brings privacy. Ornamental grasses add texture and perennial planting brings colour, with a circular flower bed providing a pleasing view from the kitchen. A solid granite sculpture designed and installed by Paula is a focal point on entering the property and the curved beds help to lead visitors to the front door.
